OVERFLOW
Director: made by Craig Mckenzie
Description: budget $800, locations - Napier, Wellington
thought i'd have a go at doing a music video myself, a huge thanks to my friends - Anand and Heidi, the stars of the video!
They let me shoot and use footage from their special day, and i happened to be singing "overflow" during the service!
i found a few waterfalls to shoot the vessel being cleansed, i bought a couple of super 8 cameras to shoot with, you'll see my mate Aidan with one in the vid and me at the very very end.
the concept behind the video is to reflect the song which is about the intimacy you share with the one you are closest to in this world, for me "overflow" is a love song to God, in the video i am the glass vessel which starts out kinda dirty but as i let God pour into me i begin to overflow and eventually become clean, i guess who and what we fill our lives with reflect who we become.
FUNKY LITTLE HIP HOP ANGEL (original)
Director: Joe Loney - who is in the video walking past me in the alley way wearing tight black jeans / singlet and long hair pretending to be a female - his idea!
Credits: DOP/ Editor : Duncan Cole
Description: Budget : $5,000 (NZ On Air Grant)
Shoot Location : Glen Eden train station / mall / pet shop , West Auckland , NZ

I sent the song to Joe and asked him if he would be keen to do a music video for it, he was up for it!

ORIGINAL CONCEPT
Lets just say the original concept could have been highly offensive to rabbit lovers and possibly the general public, haha!

WORST DAY OF MY LIFE
Everyone arrived on location, all the gear was there, hired a truck for the dolly tracks , lighting, make up LOL etc...
cast and crew were there, camera was on it's tracks ready to shoot the first scene and..... the freak'n camera wouldn't work and they couldn't fix it of get a replacement being a sunday!! ahhhh, i was totally gutted like everyone else, so we had to call it off, send everyone home and return everything, plus i had come from Wellington to do it so i drove 8 hours home again to Wgtn very deppressed!

2nd ATTEMPT / NEW CONCEPT
The shoot resceduled for 5 weeks later, things went pretty much according to plan this time round. The new concept was a piss take of a scene from 'Saturday Night Fever 'the scene where he was walking down the street with his cool strut, carrying a paint can on his way to work, trying to pick up a few women on the way!,Joe wanted me to cut my hair short to look more like John Travolta, i wasn't keen, sorry Joe!
I wore a camera attached to my chest to get that close effect, we strapped a camera to the rabbit cage too, poor rabbit! My lovely friend Jo Price was the first girl that took my attention, then the second girl was Joy Rameriz that i tried to pick up and got rejected by!
The female at the end was supposed to be an older lady but we found this young girl hanging around and ropped her into the part (parents permission of course!) The pet shop owner was the real pet shop owner who kindly let us use thier shop and rabbit, who stole the show by yawning on camera! good on ya rabbit.

JUMPHOUSE - by Sumix
Director: Joe Loney (ex bass player for Supergroove, made over 30 music videos, 2003 Tui award winner for best music video for 'Sophie' by Goodshirt
Credits: DOP : Duncan Cole
Editor : Adam Baines
Description: Budget: $12,000 - $5,000 from NZ on Air / $7,000 from Sony NZ
Shoot Locations : ponsonby house, Auckland NZ / waiwera hot pools, Waiwera,NZ

THE ORIGINAL CONCEPT
The original concept for this song was gonna be based in a house that me and Aidan bounced up and down in (Jumphouse!)
a room was going to be built around a trampoline and covered so it looked like the floor of the room with the camera postioned in the ceiling, me and Aidan started taking tampoline lessons in preparation so we could rap and sing while doing cool tricks bouncing toward the camera. But things got delayed with Sony and in the end they needed a video in a short space of time to match the release of the single, hence this version you'll be watching.

The new concept was me and Aidan got poured down the sink by Kate Mac ( Aidan's girlfriend at the time) and then that's supposed to be us going down the drain pipe, blocking it and making a racket, so kate tries to clear us out with various chemicals etc, including Draino made by Sumix ( you have to look pretty close to pick that out )
The mug she uses to pour us out is Aidan's favourite Thomas the tank engine mug.

WAIWERA HOT POOLS
Joe and his team custom built a half circle waterproof encasing for the camera to follow me and Aidan down the hydro slides at the hot pools, it had a tape deck in there also playing the song so we could sing and rap along to it, that broke so we used a click flashing at the speed of the song.
we must have gone down those slides at least 60 times!
i drove out to the location after my postie round,we started at 6pm and left the pools at about 1am, Nolan Hill our #1 man was there running the camera from the bottom to the top of the slide each time , what a trooper!, he's in the funky little hip hop angel video
and you'll see him in some of my home movies i will put on this site.

Anyway that's a bit of info behind this video :)
